How DSM rankings work
Rating = 25% winning percentage + 50% opponents’ winning percentage + 25% opponents’ opponents’ winning percentage. Ties count as half a win. Opponent percentages exclude games against the team being rated; repeat opponents are weighted per meeting. Missing opponent evidence uses a neutral 50%, not a loss. Scoring margin is not used. Equal calculated ratings share a rank; alphabetical order only arranges tied rows.
Maryland and other out-of-state results contribute to opponent strength but those schools are not displayed. All views use the same season rating, regrouped by class, traditional conference affiliation, or football district. Football classes/districts are verified for the 2025 and 2026 fall seasons; conference affiliations use the directory’s display defaults. Imported coverage is not assumed complete.
